Sheet Music - "Rat Pack"

Join me now as I delve once more into 'the Crate' and dig out some Sheet Music of yester-year.

Tonight's theme is the Rat Pack.

Time after Time
by Sammy Cahn & Jule Styne (c) 1947

For those who don't know, the Rat Pack were a sort of celebrity gang originally started up in the 50s by husband and wife revelers: Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. As is true of all gangs, members came and went over the years. They got quite a name for themselves, but by the 60s things had started to wain; By this time, few of the old guard were alive, let alone boozing into the wee hours. So heralded the birth of the 'new' Rat Pack.

The original ethos remained (i.e. drinking lots and larking around), but this time Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr were at the helm. The emphasis was more on music and for a gas, the guys would often gate-crash each other's shows to give impromptu performances. Fans loved it. The Rat Pack became a commodity in its own right.

Now, I'm not sure that any of the songs featured in this post were ever performed by the guys when they got together as the Rat Pack. I don't really care... It's a nice reminder. Enjoy!
